CHANDIGARH:The Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) today celebrated its foundation day with a lecture on 'Indian Planetary Exploration Programme' by Dr Anil Bhardwaj, Director, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad.

Chandigarh, October 30 

The Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) today celebrated its foundation day with a lecture on 'Indian Planetary Exploration Programme' by Dr Anil Bhardwaj, Director, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad.

He gave an overview of the country's current and proposed space exploratory programmes and discussed various success stories in this arena as well as listed out the challenges being faced by space scientists. He also highlighted research avenues that can be explored in the field of space sciences.

Dr Bhardwaj has been closely associated with Chandrayaan-I and Mars Orbiter Mission missions. He is currently involved in developing payloads for the Chandrayaan-II mission and the Aditya-L1 to probe the Sun.

Prof RK Sinha, Director, CSIO, highlighted the aims and goals of the CSIO and its contribution in the field of science and technology. He also spoke about the on-going projects and future plans of the organisation. 

As a part of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research's (CSIR) platinum jubilee celebrations, the CSIO has also organised a three-day science exhibition covering the technological achievements of the CSIR in various fields. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr Bhardwaj. The exhibition is open for students as well as the general public.
