DC seeks report on change of city gurdwara''s name

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) has demanded a status report over the change of name of Gurudwara Shaheed Akali Baba Phoola Singh Ji at Urban Estate in Phase 2.
This is after The Tribune reported that name of the gurdwara had been changed by a faction of the management committee of the shrine to gain controls.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kumar Amit said, “I have asked for status report on the matter. It is a private body and the issue should be resolved among the management. I have directed the grievances officer to report to me about the issue.”
The matter related to the change of the shrine came to light when a number of residents of the area alleged that the shrine was being converted into a 'dera' by a faction of the management committee for their personal gains.
The name of Gurudwara Shaheed Akali Baba Phoola Singh Ji was changed to Dera Shaheed Akali Baba Phoola Singh
Ji recently.
The complainant faction had written to the district administration on a number of accounts to look into the matter as it was related to sentiments of the people. They also alleged misappropriation of funds on the gurudwara premises.
