Degrees conferred on 1,500 students

KHARAR: More than 1500 students including 400 postgraduates and 1100 undergraduate engineering students of 2017 passedout batch were awarded degrees during the 4th annual convocation ceremony of Chandigarh University in Gharuan on Sunday

More than 1,500 students, including 400 post-graduates and 1,100 under-graduate engineering students of 2017 passed-out batch were awarded degrees during the 4th annual convocation ceremony of Chandigarh University in Gharuan on Sunday.

Around nine students were awarded PhD degrees in different areas of engineering. Over 18 university academic toppers were honored with gold medals.

Karan Bajwa, Managing Director, IBM India, was the chief guest on the occasion.

“Youth should use their weaknesses into formulae for success in future,” said Bajwa.

He said the real experience was to learn the professional way of handling tough situations in life with courage and zeal to come out as a winner.

“Although this is a proud moment for all students who have been conferred with degrees, but the real test is ahead of you when you enter the world of reality where you will face competition,” he said.

While giving success mantra to the young graduates of the university, he said: “Striving for hard work, creative thinking and following ethics and values in your life are the three important ingredients that can lead to success.” — OC
