The recent spell of rains brought no relief to Sukhna Lake as its water level did not show any significant increase.
The water level of the lake was recorded at 1,155 ft on Sunday. Though the city witnessed rains in the past one week, the showers failed to raise the water level of the lake. The level of the lake was recorded at 1,155.30 ft on June 19.
An officer of the engineering department, UT, said the water level of the lake had been falling since the onset of the summer.
The water level was recorded at 1,157.35 ft on March 20 this year.
The water level of Sukhna Lake becomes low every summer.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had taken cognisance of the drying Sukhna and constituted a high-powered committee to chalk out alternative solutions to the problem by bringing additional water to the lake.

- The water level of Sukhna Lake has seen a fall of 2.35 ft since March this year.
