Three days after Jagjeet Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) posted at the Dhakoli police station, conducted a raid on a tip-off about illegal mining taking place near his area, he has been sent to the Police Lines here on Wednesday.

Though the police higher-ups are claiming that it was a routine affair, in all quarters, it is seen as fallout of the raid conducted by the Dhakoli team against the illegal mining taking place near his jurisdiction area on the intervening night of October 13 and 14. Rumours are doing rounds that the SHO has been sent to the Police Lines after he reportedly engaged in a scuffle with the mining mafia.

It is pertinent to mention here that during the raid the police arrested three persons and claimed to have seized 9 tractor-trailers laden with sand gravel at Kakrali village. The sources said next day, residents of Kakrali village had approached the police higher-ups alleging that SHO Jagjeet Singh misbehaved with one of the residents at the site. Secondly, Jagjeet did this act outside his jurisdiction as the said area falls under the Mubarikpur police post.

As per the orders, Inspector Amritpal Singh, earlier posted in Mohali, has been appointed as the SHO at Dhakoli.— OC
