Dhanas girls clinch kabaddi title

CHANDIGARH:Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Dhanas, drubbed Government High School, Sector 54, 44-9, to clinch the girls’ kabaddi title on the concluding day of the Kho-Kho and Kabaddi U-17 Championship at the Sector 42 Sports Complex here today.

Chandigarh, July 20  

Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Dhanas, drubbed Government High School, Sector 54, 44-9, to clinch the girls’ kabaddi title on the concluding day of the Kho-Kho and Kabaddi U-17 Championship at the Sector 42 Sports Complex here today.  

Government Model High School, Sector 7, finished third after beating  Government Model High School, Sector 41, 24-12, in the playoffs.

Hanuman Club triumphs

The boys’ title went to Hanuman Club. The side registered a 39-23 win over GMSSS, Dhanas, in the final.  

GMSSS, Maloya, had to content with a third place finish. Maloya boys beat Jeet Club, Ram Darbar, 41-35.

In the girls’ kho-kho final, Coaching Centre, Sector 42, outplayed Government Model High School 78-1. 

Shri Guru Gobind Singh School, Sector 35, registered a 10-5 win over Government Model High School, Sector 32, to finish third.

Government Model High School, Sector 32, meanwhile, overcame Shri Guru Gobind Singh School, Sector 35, in closely contested final to lift the boys’ kho-kho trophy. The side won 18-17.

Unified Club finished third after beating Coaching Centre, Sector 42, 9-3 in playoffs.

Meanwhile, the winners in both kho-kho and kabaddi were awarded Rs 1,500 per player by Sports Director Captain Karnail Singh, who was the chief guest for the closing ceremony of the championship.   

The runners-up received Rs 1,000 per head, while the athletes from the teams finishing third got richer by Rs 750.
