Amitabh Kumar, Director General of Shipping, released the eighth edition of the Directory of Merchant Navy Officers’ Association, Chandigarh, at a function here on Saturday.

More than 200 merchant mariners and their spouse attended the event. Kumar exhorted the officers to enhance their skill sets to remain relevant in the times of fast-changing technology. “The procedure to submit the continuous discharge certificate has been streamlined and made online,” he said, adding that “to keep a check on marine training institutions, a mechanism was being put in place. This will ensure proper training for the sailing staff”. — TNS
