Mohali: Doon International School, Sector 69, won the boys’ U-17 inter-school zonal football tournament by defeating Government Model Senior Secondary School, Phase-3B1, in a tie-breaker finish. Both the teams were goalless in the stipulated 70 minutes. In the tie-breaker, Doon boys got the better of their rivals 5-4. In the boys’ U-14 category, Yadvindra Public School, Mohali, beat Doon boys 3-2. This match also ended goalless. In the tie-breaker YPS beat Doon School.
Rishabh claims four wickets
Chandigarh: A fine bowling performance by Rishabh (4/10) helped Eicher School, Parwanoo, beat St Soldier International School, Sector 28, by two wickets in the Sub-junior Challenger U-13 Trophy at St Joseph’s School, Sector 44. Batting first, St Soldier boys were bundled out for 86 runs in 17.3 overs. Manik (27) and Kartik (11) were the main scorers for the side. Rishabh was supported by Satyam (2/16) and Ritish Thakur (2/8). In reply, Eicher boys posted 88/8 in 16 overs with the help of Ritish (18) and Akshay (12). Manit claimed 3/26 and Hari grabbed 2/2 for the bowling side.
Badminton meet from today
Chandigarh: Accountant General (A&E) of Punjab & Chandigarh will organise All-India Audit & Account North Zone Badminton Tournament at the Sector 42 Sports Complex from August 27 to 29. Seven teams from North Zone -- AG Haryana, AG Jammu & Kashmir, AG Himachal Pradesh, AG Uttar Pradesh, Delhi Audit and AG Punjab -- will participate in the tournament. The matches will be played on knockout basis. —TNS
