Chandigarh: Vidushi Rawat of Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, has won two gold medals in the CBSE National Skating Championship held in Bhopal. Vidushi won both her medals in the U-16 category. She was also adjudged the best individual skater in her age-group.
City police reward medal winners
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police on Wednesday awarded the wards of their personnel who won laurels in various school national wrestling championships. Wrestlers Ragubir Singh (85kg gold), Hitesh (76kg gold), Panam (69kg gold), Sahil Khan (63kg gold), Surjeet Singh (58kg gold), Shruti (40kg gold), Abhinandaa (85kg gold), Sahil (55kg silver), Tanuj (49kg silver), Kapil (69kg bronze) and Aakash (85kg bronze) were presented cash awards by the department.
PU boys finish on top
Chandigarh: Panjab University clinched the gold medal in the All India inter-university roller sports/roller hockey championship here on Wednesday. Chitkara University bagged the silver medal, while Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, had to be content with the bronze medal. In the women’s category, Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa, won the pole position. Panjab University finished second, followed by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, in third place. Panjab University, meanwhile, claimed trophy in the men’s inline event. MDU, Rohtak, and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, finished second and third respectively. Devi Lal University topped the women’s inline event, followed by Panjab University in second place. Guru Nanak Dev University ended in third place.
City sluggers enter quarters
Chandigarh: Chandigarh boys and girls have entered baseball quarterfinals in the ongoing 63rd School National Games at Durg, Chhattisgarh. In the boys’ category, Chandigarh blanked CBSE 11- 0 before getting the better of Madhya Pradesh (11-0). The side also registered an 11-0 win over Goa. In the girls’ category, Chandigarh thumped Madhya Pradesh 10-0, while they blanked Andhra Pradesh 5-0.
City boys beat Ambala by 78 runs
Chandigarh: Tavjot claimed a fifer, while Puransh Prabhakar bagged a hat-trick as Chandigarh beat Ambala Cricket Association by 78 runs in the ongoing Haryana inter-district U-16 cricket championship at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, on Wednesday. Batting first, Chandigarh scored 173 runs in 20 overs, with Sahaj Bhatia scoring a half-century. Rudhraksh contributed 44 runs to the total. In reply, Ambala boys were bowled out for 96 runs as Prabhakar and Tavjot ran though the side. Tavjot claimed 5/15, while Prabhakar returned with the figures 3/24. —TNS
