Dowry case against 5

The Patiala police on Friday booked five members of a Mohali family for harassing a Rajpura woman for dowry.

The accused have been identified as Tarun Arora, victim’s husband, Rajinder Kumar, father-in-law, Krishan Kumar, mother-in-law, Bhavuk Arora, brother-in-law, and Gunjan Arora, sister-in-law.

The police said the complainant alleged that her in-laws started harassing her for dowry immediately after marriage. She also alleged that her brother-in-law sexually harassed her after she failed to fulfil their demands.

The police have booked the family members under Sections 406,498-A, 354-A of the Indian Penal Code. The police said further investigations were underway.
