A team of officials from the Directorate of Research and Medical Education (DRME) on Monday visited the Gian Sagar Hospital to assess the hospital’s pending liabilities.
Officials who visited the premises have directed the management of Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital to prepare a report of their pending liabilities. It also asked the hospital to fill vacant posts of doctors and buy equipment which were stolen from the premises after the hospital and college were closed down.
Dr BS Brar, Medical Superintendent of Government Rajindra Hospital, who is leading a team of four doctors and an accounts officer said, “The new management has written in their constitution that they will pay the pending arrears ofemployees, paramedical staff and electricity bills and others pending since prior to its closing down. We have directed them to complete the pending requirements in the hospital and college after which they assured us that they will furnish a report regarding the same in a week’s time.” He said the team from the DRME inspected the hospital and college and we provided them the information we had collected.
Officials said they had received more than 500 letters received from doctors, paramedical staff and others which have been forwarded to the new management. They said they were supposed to check into the possibility of running of the college.
Dr AS Sekhon, an official at Gian Sagar College and hospital said, “We are committed to pay all the dues of the employees and paramedical staff.”
