ED sleuths raid Gitanjali counter at Elante mall

Chandigarh, February 18 

A team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today raided the outlet of Gitanjali Group in Elante Mall in connection with the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam. The raid, which began in the afternoon, continued till late in the evening.

Around 12 ED sleuths reached the Shoppers Stops in Elante mall that has a counter of the Gitanjali group and asked the staff to stop the sales. They checked the sale and purchase records of the company. The stock, including jewellery and watches displayed at the counter, was also seized by sleuths along with some incremenating documents. 

Raids are being carried out at the stores of the Gitanjali group across the country in connection with the multicrore money-laundering case against billionaire jewellery designer, Nirav Modi, and others. The case was filed on a complaint by Punjab National Bank.

The Shoppers Stop was closed during the ED raid. First, the entry from the ground floor was shut and later on the directions of the ED sleuths, the other two entrances on the first and second floor were also closed.
