Ekampreet shines in Sodhi''s XI title victory

Chandigarh, June 16

A fine all-round performance by Ekampreet Singh helped Sodhi Nic's XI beat Patiala XI by 93 runs to win the U-16 Inter- Academy Tournament, in Ludhiana today. 

Winning the toss and opting to bat, Sodhi Nic's XI posted 190/7 in allotted 40 overs. Ekampreet scored 61 runs, while Tanuj added 50 to the total. Shubham claimed 2/27 for the bowling side. In reply, Patiala XI boys were packed at 97 runs in 28 overs. Kabir (24) and Madhav (24) were the two main scorers for the side. Ekampreet was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3/15, while Salman claimed 2/32 to remain the other main wicket taker.  

Jaiveer was named best batsman of the tournament, while Anoop was adjudged best bowler. Ekampreet was awarded with the best all-rounder title and Sahil was adjudged best wicketkeeper. Sehaj Khanna of Patiala XI was named Man of the Series. — TNS
