Engg placements: CCET leads among PU institutes

The highest package offered at the Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Sector 26, for the 2019 batch was Rs 12.02 lakh per annum by Jaro Education. The average salary offered is Rs 5.53 lakh per annum.

For the 2018 batch, the highest package was Rs 7 lakh and the average package was Rs 4.07 lakh. So, there is an upward trend.

From the 2019 batch, over 59 per cent students secured placements. Over 87 per cent students from Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) secured placements while 79 per cent of Electronics and Communication Engineering students got job offers. Over 35 per cent students of Mechanical Engineering received job offers while only 3.7 per cent achieved success from Civil Engineering.

“Software companies have requirement of coding. We are very active in the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM). The coding skills of our students are very high. That is why we secured good placements in the CSE. Our civil engineering students go for GATE and higher studies,” said Dr SK Singh, head of the CSE branch of the CCET.

In the 2018 batch, there were just 51 per cent placements. The CSE had 86.7 per cent placements while the ECE had 53.1 per cent placements. However, Mechanical Engineering had 45.9 per cent and Civil just 14.3 per cent placements.

University Institute of Engineering & Technology

At the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), the placements for the batch to be passed out in 2019 so far has been roughly the same like the past year but there is rise in median salary. Though the placements are still going on. The highest package this year has been Rs 10 lakh per annum, which has been offered to one student by Zscalar.

There has been 50.8 per cent placements so far, but the median salary has been Rs 5.27 lakh per annum. There has been 79.8 per cent placements in Computer Science and Engineering while in Information Technology (IT), it has been 79.5 per cent. The lowest has been in Mechanical Engineering at 9.5 per cent and BioTech Engineering at 13.1 per cent.

For the batch passing out in 2018, it was 53.8 per cent placements overall in the UIET. The highest package offered was Rs 20.35 lakh The median salary was Rs 4.6 lakh. It was 77.1 per cent in the CSE and 80.8 per cent in the IT. But in Mechanical Engineering, it was 28.2 per cent and in BioTech, it was 12.7 per cent.

Around 70 per cent of the students, who passed out in 2017, secured placements. The highest package was Rs 8 lakh per annum which was offered by Winshuttle. The median salary was Rs 5 lakh per annum. Around 98 per cent CSE students had secured placements and 89.6 per cent in the IT. While in Electrical Engineering it was 29.5 per cent, 32.1 per cent in BioTech and 42 per cent in Mechanical Engineering.

At UICET, highest offer for Rs9.37 lakh

The highest package at the University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET) has been Rs 9.37 lakh per annum for the batch that would pass out in 2019. Two students of BE Chemical, Mrittik Mukherjee and Suhani Shrotriya, have got the highest package, offered by Exxon Mobil. The average package so far is Rs 6.25 lakh and 41 students have been placed out of 63. The placements are still going on but a target of 65.1 per cent has been achieved.

For the 2018 batch, the placement percentage was 75 per cent with average salary of Rs 5.82 lakh per annum. The highest package was Rs 7.95 lakh per annum, which Vedanta Resources Ltd offered to two students.

For the 2017 batch, the placement percentage was 75 with the highest package at Rs 8 lakh and average package at Rs 5.84 lakh.

BE Chemical-MBA at UICET

The highest package in BE Chemical-MBA for the 2019 batch has been Rs 6.5 lakh per annum. Four students were offered the package by Jubiliant Lifesciences and one by Jaro Education. So far, nine out 18 students have been placed and average package is Rs 5.66 lakh per annum. The batch which passed out in 2018 had 60 per cent with the highest package of Rs 7 lakh per annum and average package of Rs 5.21 lakh.
