Patiala, September 1
Former employees of the Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital held a demonstration despite a court order restraining them from holding protest within a radius of 500 metre from the hospital gates in Rajpura.
The protestors were joined by some investors, who had earlier been running the Gian Sagar Hospital, after its management changed a few months back.
They raised slogans against the new management of the the Gian Sagar Educational and Charitable Trust and demanded that the former employees be re-appointed in the Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital. The protestors also blocked the Chandigarh-Patiala highway near Banur for over 20 minutes.
However, the new management of the Gian Sagar Educational and Charitable Trust refuted the claim of the former employees that the management was not paying the outstanding dues.
Harnam Singh, working president of the Gian Sagar Educational and Charitable Trust, said the trust had nothing to do with the PACL.
Hardyal Singh Kamboj, Congress legislator from Rajpura, also addressed the protestors. He said the new management had already cleared the arrears of the former employees and those who had not been paid could contact the hospital authorities.
Harnam Singh, working president of the trust, said they were willing to talk to the agitating former employees and clear their dues, if any.
“But they should first come and try to discuss the matter peacefully instead of protesting,” he said.
