The 6th Department of Science & Technology (DST) Inspire Internship five-day camp concluded at Panjab University here today.

Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover was the chief guest. Prof Tushar Kanti Chakraborty, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, focused on how nature uses basic building blocks — handful of amino acids, few carbohydrates, four nucleobases, lipids — for creation of every form of life. Prof Umesh Varshney, Chairman, Division of Biological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, discussed how using simple approaches, Nobel Laureate Har Gobind Khorana solved the genetic code. —TNS
