Fire breaks out at garments shop

A fire broke out at a readymade garments shop at Jagadhri Gate in Ambala City in the wee hours today. The fire was first noticed by a passer-by who raised the alarm. Two fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.

Harsh Dua, owner of Riwaz Collection, said: “We had closed the shop around 8:30 pm last night. We got information about the fire around 3 am today. Besides clothes, furniture, electronic items and other goods worth 15 lakhs were destroyed in the fire.”

Forensic expert Dr GR Jain also visited the spot. No loss of life was reported in the incident. A short-circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the fire. — TNS
