Chandigarh, September 30
The Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class today issued fresh non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against an accused in the alleged PGI MS/MD paper leak scam.
The court issued the fresh NBW against Tirunagiri Shanthi after the arrest warrant issued earlier could not be served.
As per the prosecution, a case under Sections 120 B, 419, 420, 465 of the IPC was registered in the alleged scam on November 10, 2012.
Pushpagiri Gurivi Reddy of Andhra Pradesh, who was alleged to be the mastermind of the scam, Dr Kota Ganghadhar and Dara Kotesh had planned to leak the PGI papers. Reddy allegedly arranged for cheating, copying and manipulation of the entrance test held on November 10, 2012. He and others arranged for 14 dummy female candidates (10 girls visited Chandigarh and four did not), submitted two application forms under different names, forged their details, customised their clothes to carry electronic gadgets, booked their tickets, and arranged for their accommodation.
The dummy candidates were caught while trying to send the question paper to Kotesh and Dr Ganghadhar.
The CBI had filed report against 26 persons under Section 173 of the CrPC on December 24, 2014. In the report, names of 10 persons were mentioned, who were not chargesheeted. However, names of six more persons were added to the supplementary report filed in August 2016.
Accused Abdul Jabbar, Gali Subhadra, Ramanaboyana and Hari Priya had already been declared proclaimed offender in the case. — TNS
