Bishnoi was brought on a production warrant by the Mohali police from a Faridkot jail on November 29 with an aim to probe his link with the five gangsters held with arms and ammunition at Dwarka, Delhi, after a shootout.

Bishnoi was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate (Senior Division) Balwinder Kaur Dhaliwal after his three-day police remand ended on Friday. The police did not seek an extension in remand. Following this, Bishnoi was sent to judicial custody and taken back to the Faridkot jail.

Bishnoi was first brought to the Dera Bassi police station. Later, his medical examination was done amidst tight security at the local Civil Hospital.

A team of more than 10 policemen, headed by Dera Bassi SHO Gurpreet Singh, took Bishnoi to the court at 3.10 pm. He was escorted out of the court at 3.30 pm.

Senior police officials said during the investigation, it had come out that Lawrence Bishnoi and his accomplices Naresh Bishnoi and Sunil were getting funds from small-time politicians.

Naresh and Sunil, who were recently brought on a production warrant from the Tihar Jail in New Delhi, had also been sent to judicial custody after their two-day police remand ended. Both, along with their three other accomplices, were arrested by a team of the Mohali and Delhi police after a 30 minute shootout in New Delhi.

The police claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from various places at the behest of the arrested gangsters. During the investigation, they reportedly admitted that they were planning to free Lawrence Bishnoi, along with other gangsters, lodged at different jails.

Bishnoi is allegedly involved in extortion, robbery and kidnapping cases. His gang is active in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan.

Naresh executed Banur murder

n “Naresh, one of the most dreaded members of the gang, had executed the murder of Pinci at the behest of Sampat Nehra,” said the SSP.

n Nehra, who is said to be right hand of Lawrence Bishnoi, was running the gang in his absence, said the police. Naresh is also wanted by the Rajasthan Police in connection with at least two murder cases there. TNS
