Chandigarh: Gauri Sheoran won a gold and a silver medal in the Sports Pistol women's event during the South Asian Games in Kathmandu on Wednesday. Gauri won the gold medal in the 25m sports pistol team event, while in the individual category, she won the silvers by scoring 28 points. In team's event, the Indian team scored 1691 points to claim the top spot. TNS

Cricket trials from Dec 6

Chandigarh: The UT Education Department will organise trials to select local cricket teams for the upcoming 65th National School Games, from December 6. The trials to select boys’ U-14 team will be held from December 6 to 7 and December 9 to 10 at Government High School (Sector 19). The trials to select boys’ U-17 team will be held on the same dates at Government Model Senior Secondary School (Sector 26). The boys’ U-19 team will be selected from December 11 to 13 and December 16 at Government Model Senior Secondary School (Sector 26), while the girls’ U-19 team will be selected from December 6 to 7 and December 9 at Government Model Senior Secondary School (Sector 40). The trials will start at 1pm on all days at the respective venues. TNS

EECP workshop concludes

Chandigarh: Government College of Yoga Education & Health (Sector 23) organised a workshop on External Enhance Counter Pulsation Technique (EECP) for the prevention of Heart Diseases by Dr Sanjeev Vats. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Sapna Nanda, principal of the college. Dr. Vats gave an audiovisual presentation of heart diseases and blockages, their prevention and cure. He also explained the benefits of EECP treatment. He also informed that this process is also known as natural bypass therapy and is based on research reports. The workshop was attended by around 80 people. TNS

Shaleen claims five-wkt haul

Panchkula: Shaleen Kumar (5/18) helped Narinder Walia Cricket Academy (NWCA) to beat Panchkula Cricket Club (PCC) by 120 runs in ongoing Friendship Cup Cricket U-15 Tournament. Batting first, NWCA posted 196 runs before getting all out in 24.3 overs. Lakshay Yadav (88), Davish (20) and Madhav (18) were the main scorers for the side. Mahesh (3/38) and Aryaman (3/28) shared wickets for the bowling side. In reply, PCC bundled out at 76 runs in 12.2 overs. Mahesh (23) and Umang (22) were the only two main performers with the bat. Skating meet today 

Chnadigarh: Special Olympics Bharat Chandigarh will organise a skating competition for as many as 40 mentally challenged children of all schools from the tricity. The event will be organised at Bhavan Vidhyalaya (Sector 27) on December 5 from 9am to 1pm. Over 40 specially-abled students are expected to participate in the meet. TNS
