GMSSS-20 girls set up title clash with GMHS-20

Hosts Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 22, beat Government Senior Secondary School, Khuda Lahora, by a solitary goal to enter the Pre- Subroto U-17 Football Cup final

in the girls’ category here on Saturday. 

Both the teams started off well but failed to break the deadlock in the opening half of the match. In the second half, Sugam (28th minute) struck the decisive goal for GMSSS, Sector 22, and took her side into the final, where they will meet Government Model High School (GMHS), Sector 20.

GMHS, Sector 20, girls beat St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, 5-4 on penalties after both sides failed to score in the regulation time.   

Monika, Kajal, Priya, Kalpna and her namesake converted the spot kicks for GMHS, Sector 20, while for St Stephen’s struck through Stuti, Varinda, Harsimran and Vanshikha.

NPS boys in final

In the boys’ U-14 category, New Public School (NPS), Sector 18, blanked Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, 5-0 to ease into the final. 

Hanzala (19th and 32nd) and Deepak (14th and 41st) scored a brace each for New Public School after Bikash put the side in lead in the 15th minute of the match.

Meanwhile, St Soldier International School, Sector 28, beat St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, 5-3 on penalties in a boys’ U-17 category match at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37. 

Government Model High School, Sector 36, drubbed DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, 

6-0, while Strawberry Fields School blanked Delhi Public School, Sector 8, 3-0. Chitkara International School, Sector 25, registered a 1-0 win over the hosts Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37.
