Gold chain snatched from elderly woman in Sec 44

Snatchers once again targeted an elderly woman sitting in the corridor of her house in Sector 44 and snatched her gold chain today. This is the second incident in less than 48 hours in which an elderly woman was targeted and her gold chain snatched.

Sources said the victim, Promila (67), was sitting outside her house in the corridor when two motorcycle-borne miscreants arrived. The one riding pillion walked up to the corridor and snatched the victim’s gold chain. She received minor injuries in the incident.

The duo then escaped from the spot. The police were informed about the incident. 

The victim failed to note down the registration number of the motorcycle. A case has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.

The city has seen a spurt in snatching incidents in which miscreants snatch gold chains, especially from elderly women, on the doorstep.

The city has already witnessed 32 snatching incidents this year.
