Gurkirat of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, clocked 5:25.80s to win the gold medal in the boys’ U-17 400m freestyle event during the inter-school swimming championship here on Friday.

Adit Gupta (5:27.11) of Delhi Public School claimed the silver, while his schoolmate Soumil Arora (5:41.71) returned with the bronze medal.  

In the girls’ U-19 breaststroke, Jasmeet Kaur of KB DAV School lapped 50m in 38.95s to claim the top position. She was followed by Stepping Stone’s Nishita (43.37) in second place. Raavis Shearon (55.28) of Sacred Heart School bagged the third position.

Jasmeet, Nishita and Raavis also won the top-three positions, respectively, in the 50m backstroke. 

In the girls’ U-14 category, Vanisha Bashambhu of Ryan International School won the 50m backstroke event with a timing of 41.03s. Tista Tewani (43.05) of Delhi Public School was second and Sanchi Bhargava (44.49) of Chitkara International School third.        

Varnika Bashambhu of Ryan International School recorded 32.22s to claim the gold medal in the girls’ U-14 50m freestyle competition. Manasvani Dwivedi (33.10) of Delhi Public School bagged the silver, while Osheen Mahajan (35.39) of Chitkara international School had to be content with the bronze medal.  

Akshaj of Vivek High School, meanwhile, clocked 30.18s to win the boys’ U-14 50m freestyle title. Tarun Bhardwaj (34.29) of St Joseph’s School claimed the second spot while Dhruv Gupta (34.66) of St John’s School bagged the third position.      

In the boys’ U-17 freestyle competition, Shahdeep Singh Dhillon of Chitkara International School lapped 50m in 27.69s to win the gold medal. Rishi Rana (27.98) of Delhi Public School won the silver, while Rishi Narayan (29.13) of Strawberry Fields School claimed the bronze medal.
