‘Guru Nanak, sufism spread message of togetherness’

A two-day international sufi conference on “Guru Nanak in dialogue with contemporary Muslims” concluded today.

Patiala MP Preneet Kaur said, “Guru Nanak Dev spread the message of oneness, brotherhood, honesty and futility of all outward forms of worship, rituals and superstitions.”

She said Guru’s writings and Janam Sakhis carry examples and mentions Muslim rulers and administrators, naibs, khans, maliks and others.

Saeed Fazle Moin Hussein Chishti of Dargah Khwaja Ajmer Sharif Moeen-Ud-din Chishti said the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev and sufism spread message of love and togetherness.

Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University Dr BS Ghuman said, “We have held as many as 60 programmes in view of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.”
