Gym trainer consumes poison by mistake, dies

Zirakpur, August 3

A 23-year-old gym trainer died after he accidentally consumed some poisonous substance here on August 1. The deceased has been identified as Deepak Singh, a resident of Saidpura village, Dera Bassi.

Deceased’s father Sanjeev Singh, a farmer by profession, told the police that his eldest son, Deepak Singh, was working as a fitness trainer at a gym in Zirakpur. He stated that on August 1, Deepak reportedly took some medicine and left for gym.

He told the police that after a few hours, Deepak felt uneasiness and called his cousin Nitin at Zirakpur. On seeing Deepak’s condition deteriorating, his cousin rushed him to the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh. Deepak died on the night of August 2 while undergoing treatment at the hospital, said sources.

Terming it a case of natural death, the family members did not want to registered any case or suspect any foul play. Meanwhile, the police have initiated an inquest proceeding.
