Chandigarh, May 3
Harshdeep claimed a six-for as Mohali bundled out hosts Chandigarh for 172 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their U-19 Dhruv Pandove Trophy super-league match at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, here, on Friday.
Opting to bat, Chandigarh lost half of their side for just 86 runs. Raj Angad waged a lone battle towards the end but could not take the hosts past the 200-run mark as Mohali bowlers led by Harshdeep kept picking wickets at regular intervals.
Harshdeep returned with figures of 6/41, while Anshul Negi took 2/26. Sahil (1/27) and Ashwani (1/16) bagged a wicket each.
Earlier, opener Ishan Goel had scored a quick-fire 39 for the hosts.
Patiala in driver’s seat
At Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala, Pukhraj Singh and Fatehbir Singh scored a century each to help the hosts close the opening day’s play against Bathinda at 321/5 after Harjit Singh and Aryaman Dhaliwal hunted in pair to bundle out the visitors for 106 runs.
Batting first, Bathinda failed to put on a competitive total as Harjit Singh (5/40) and Aryaman (4/37) ran through the side. Abhishek Singh made a fighting 66-ball 65 for the visitors.
In reply, Pukhraj and Fatehbir stitched a 214-run partnership for the second wicket to steer Patiala to a comfortable position.
Fatehbir was caught by Raman Verma off Abir Kohli for 131 runs, while Pukhraj remained unbeaten on 121.
For Bathinda, Kohli claimed 4/117.
Vaibhav propels Ludhiana
Ludhiana, meanwhile, declared their first innings closed at 326/9 against Ropar. The hosts were propelled by Vaibhav Kalra’s 154-ball 142, which included nine boundaries and an equal number of sixes. Jaskaranvir Singh added 45 runs to the total.
For Ropar, left-arm spinner Saksham Gupta claimed 4/114, while Yashdeep took 2/102.
At the end of day’s play, the visitors were batting on 34/0 with Himanshu Khanna (17) and Saksham (16) at the crease.
Jalandhar on top
Hosts Amritsar were struggling on 32/3 after Jalandhar rode on Azam Nazar (72) and Ridham Satyawan’s (66) half-century knocks to score 319 runs in their first innings at Gandhi Grounds.
The duo was also involved in a 93-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Arun Kalia (34), Lovepreet Singh (34) and Aditya Partap Singh (29) also made useful contributions to the Jalandhar total.
