Opting to bat, Chandigarh lost half of their side for just 86 runs. Raj Angad waged a lone battle towards the end but could not take the hosts past the 200-run mark as Mohali bowlers led by Harshdeep kept picking wickets at regular intervals.

Patiala in driver’s seat

At Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala, Pukhraj Singh and Fatehbir Singh scored a century each to help the hosts close the opening day’s play against Bathinda at 321/5 after Harjit Singh and Aryaman Dhaliwal hunted in pair to bundle out the visitors for 106 runs.

Batting first, Bathinda failed to put on a competitive total as Harjit Singh (5/40) and Aryaman (4/37) ran through the side. Abhishek Singh made a fighting 66-ball 65 for the visitors.

In reply, Pukhraj and Fatehbir stitched a 214-run partnership for the second wicket to steer Patiala to a comfortable position.

Fatehbir was caught by Raman Verma off Abir Kohli for 131 runs, while Pukhraj remained unbeaten on 121.

For Bathinda, Kohli claimed 4/117.

Vaibhav propels Ludhiana

Ludhiana, meanwhile, declared their first innings closed at 326/9 against Ropar. The hosts were propelled by Vaibhav Kalra’s 154-ball 142, which included nine boundaries and an equal number of sixes. Jaskaranvir Singh added 45 runs to the total.

For Ropar, left-arm spinner Saksham Gupta claimed 4/114, while Yashdeep took 2/102.

At the end of day’s play, the visitors were batting on 34/0 with Himanshu Khanna (17) and Saksham (16) at the crease.
