Harwin wins tennis meet
Chandigarh: Harwin Singh defeated Savar Chauhan 6-3 to win the boys’ U-10 title on the concluding day of Guru Nanak Public School Tennis Championship. Reet Arora won the girls’ U-10 title after registering a 6-4 victory over Paavni Panvar. In the boys’ U-12 final, Aarush Sharma defeated Lakshay Gupta 7-6. Harleen Kaur bagged the girls’ title after registering a 6-1 victory over Bhumi Kakkar. Lakshay Gupta won the boys’ U-14 title by registering a 6-4 win over Aarush Sharma. Harleen Kaur defeated Bhumi 6-1 to win the girls’ U-14 title.

Shooting team wins bronze
Chandigarh: The local shooting team won bronze medal in the 61st National Shooting Championship held at Thiruvananthapuram. The trio of Ridhima Khindria (374), Nandini Kansal (367) and Yashmeet Kaur (356) shot a total score of 1097 Points to finish third in the air pistol event of the youth category. The team has also won silver medal at the National School Games held at Pune by scoring 1093 points in girl’s U-19 category.
Vikas, Anuj bag chess titles
Chandigarh: Vikas Sharma won the first position while Jaspreet Singh and Amanpreet Khinda finished second and third, respectively, in the open category on the concluding day of tenth Open Chess Tournament. In the U-16 category, Anuj Bansal claimed the top spot while Agaaz Bansal and Pratyaksh Goel finished second and third position, respectively. In U-10 category, Harshit Dhingra finished first, followed by Abeer Manchanda and Shaunak Chaudhary. In girls’ section, Kashish Kaushal and Priyanka claimed the top two positions.
Sky World boys beat Vivek High
Chandigarh: Sky World School, Panchkula, defeated Vivek High School, Mohali, by 81 runs in the opening match of the Super League U-14 Cricket Tournament for Gold Cup at the St Joseph’s School, Sector 44.Batting first, the Sky World boys posted 146/7 in 25 overs. Jeevas Uppal (31*) was the highest run-getter for the team. He was ably supported by Pranav (25) and Mayank (19).In reply, Vivek High School were bundled out for 64 runs in 18.3 overs. Akshit (17) and Taran (13) were the main run-getters. Tanmay Arora claimed three wickets while Mayank Miglani and Shubhang took one each. —TNS
