Head granthi assaulted by youth in Mohali
Mohali, December 25
Head granthi of a gurdwara was assaulted by a youth in a road-rage case here today. The victim has been identified as Narinder Singh (62), head priest of Gurdwara Sahib in Phase VI.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 5.45 pm near Gayatri Mandir at the Phase I-VI light point when the victim’s scooter was allegedly rammed into by a youth on a motorcycle.
The police said following an argument, the youth, Akshay, allegedly assaulted the senior citizen, hitting him with a helmet. The victim suffered injuries in his eye and jaw and was shifted to Civil Hospital in Phase VI.
The victim's son said his father was on his way for the evening sermon at the gurdwara when the incident occurred. "His eye is swollen and a tooth fell out due to the impact of the helmet," he said.
The police have booked the youth under Sections 323 and 341 of the IPC. The police said investigation was on to nab the accused. His bike had been impounded. — TNS
