Health education books from this session

Health education books are being introduced in Classes VI and VII in some of the city schools from this session, said the PGI.
A workshop will be conducted at the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGI, from April 10-12. The objective is to train school teachers on implementation of health education books and curriculum in selected 20 schools (10 private and 10 government).
Health education workbooks, teacher's manual and pen drives containing resource material in Hindi and English have been made in partnership with the PGI under a rotary grant.
Key topics to be covered under the training will include chapters on what does it mean to be happy and healthy, healthy diet, physical activity, different types of diseases and injuries, goal setting, decision making, tobacco, alcohol and drugs, body changes and reproductive health, meditation, self-esteem and values.
A panel discussion of principals of participating schools will be held on the topic, 'Strengthening of health education teaching in schools in Chandigarh', on April 11.
