The Mehtab Arts staged a Hindi play, 'Gulli Danda', at Randhawa auditorium here today.

Based on a story of same title by legendary Munshi Prem Chand and theatrical adaptation by Anoop Sharma, the musical play directed by Dr Kulbir Kaur Virk and Harpreet Virk described the childhood love and life of two chums, Sooraj and Gaya, with contrasting career graphs later. While Sooraj attains a higher post of a government officer, Gaya remains a poor labourer.

Sans any sets, the play structured in semi-urban ambiance was enlivened with musical renditions and dances emanating joys of celebrations of friendship.  Both Anoop Sharma and Vishal Saini, alumnus of PU Indian Theatre, portrayed Gaya and Sooraj, respectively. Mehtab and Abhishek essayed junior roles. —OC
