The CEVA Drama repertory Company presented a Hindi play Vasiyat under the direction of SNA’s Bismillah Khan awardee Dr Chandra Shekhar at Tagore theatre here today. Khan adapted Bhagwati Charan Verma’s story of the same title for theatrical adaptation of the play.
The play debated the very significance of mostly accepted Vedanta philosophy of moral ethics of life with the human beings aspiring for Moksha in sharp contradiction of philosopher Charvaak’s declaration that there was no other world than the existing one.
This all was illustrated in a dramatic way after an old man expired leaving a will. When the will was read out, it brought into focus his good or bad comments on each of his progeny, which led many acrimonious discussions, fights, emotional outbursts on the sharing of property of an old man. However, emotions subsided with harmony, love and affection getting restored.
The play marked with good acting spells and adherences to timings kept the audience amused throughout. Jasvir Kumar, Chainish Gill, Rinku jain, Vinod Bharti, Abimanue Kamboz, Pragati Sharma, Priti Arora, Sonika Bhatia, Asha Saklani, Prasashti, Jaswinder Singh and others essayed their roles well.
