Heavy rain on Thursday resulted in knee-deep waterlogging at the Shivalik City entrance gate. Raj Kumar, owner of the horse cart, said he brought some goods from Mohali. When he was passing through the waterlogged stretch at the Shivalik City gate his horse suddenly collapsed and died within minutes, he added.

A few youths, who were standing nearby, entered the water to save horse, but they also received an electric shock. Luckily, they came out of the water immediately and managed to save themselves. Meanwhile, the SDO (Electricty), Kharar, Bachitter Singh, and the Executive Officer, Kharar Municipal Council, Rajesh Sharma, were informed about the incident. Both sent their teams at the spot to take necessary steps.

Shivalik City Welfare Association president Manjit Kaur Bajwa and press secretary Gurinder Preet Mavi alleged that despite spending lakhs on the construction of drain near the gate of Shivalik City by the Municipal Council (MC) a lot of water gets accumulated in the area.

They alleged that even a brief spell of rain caused waterlogging and made it difficult for residents to come out of their houses. They demanded proper drainage of water from the spot.

Meanwhile, Garry, Gurjit, Gaurab, Pawan, Mukesh, Ashwani and Umar, who had a narrow escape while trying to save the horse, criticised the MC for failing to make proper arrangements for drainage of rainwater. They demanded that horse owner should be compensated by the administration.
