Chandigarh, September 11
The long wait for the affixation of the High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) on vehicles in the city continues as the company is yet to start the work due to a delay in finalising the agreement by the Administration.
Work allotted around three months ago
It has been around three months since the company was allotted the work for the affixation of the HSRP by the Transport Department but the agreement has not been signed due to a delay on part of the Administration in finalising the agreement.
Sources said the agreement was awaiting the final vetting from the department concerned. The administration had allotted the work to the company, Test Security License Private Limited, after a long wait of one year on July 24, 2017. The process of affixation of the HSRPs for the series (CH01-BG, CH01-BH) and CH03-N was stopped in July 2016 The delay in finding new vendor has led to a huge backlog of around 60,000 vehicles.
The Transport Department has finalised the firm test security for the affixation of the HSRPs after it has been found successful in the tender opened in May 2017. Earlier, the Transport Department scrapped the tenders twice for the HSRP due to various reasons. Under the new tender, the resident will have to pay Rs 160 for two-wheelers and Rs 365 for four-wheelers for the plates. Earlier, the residents were paying Rs 79 for the two-wheelers and Rs 183 for the four-wheelers. As per the agreement, the rates will remain same for the next five years also. — TNS
