A 28-year-old woman has filed a complaint of dowry harassment with Pinjore police against her husband and in-laws. In her complaint, Shipra, a resident of Himshikha Colony in Pinjore, said her marriage with Himanshu Saini was solemnised as per Hindu rites on November 23, 2016 at the Hotel Kingfisher in Ambala Cantt.  

She alleged that her family gave many dowry articles, including gold ornaments upon the wishes of the accused family at the engagement held in Pinjore, a day before the marriage.

“My parents had gone beyond their financial capacity, so that I get peacefully settled in my matrimonial house. Even, my father took a credit of Rs 12 lakh from bank and his friend to perform my marriage,” the complainant told the police.

 According to the FIR, the father of the complainant took a personal loan from his friends. Overall, her parents spent around Rs 21 lakh on marriage.

The complainant on different occasions also spent amount from her bank account to purchase one double bed, one RO, microwave, one washing machine and she also paid Rs 25,000 in cash for the registration fees of her husband for undergoing commercial pilot training to Ambition Flying Club Private Limited, Aligarh.

   She also accused her husband of forced abortion, after he came to know about her pregnancy. She also accused her husband of having an extramarital affair.

 The complainant is residing at her paternal house in Pinjore, since September 2019. The police have registered a case under sections 34, 323, 406, 494, 498A and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
