Inter-college tennis event

Patiala: Sportspersons of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, won Punjabi University Inter-College Tennis (Men) Championship by defeating University Campus Team here on the concluding day of the competitions. This college was represented by Pankaj Garg, Ankush Mishra and Gurpreet Singh. Principal Khushvinder Kumar appreciated the spirit of sportsmanship displayed by the students during the tournament and advised them to show this in other walks of life. He said apart from various facilities provided to the sportspersons, college provided money prize to the national and international winners of various games. Dean Sports Gurdeep Singh Sandhu also appreciated the efforts of Prof Nishan Singh, Prof Harneet Singh and Prof Mandeep Kaur in the smooth conduct of matches and guidance provided to the sportspersons.

Poetry recitation competition

The Department of Punjabi and Punjabi Literary Society of Khalsa College, Patiala, organised a poetry recitation competition. As many as 25 students of various departments participated in the competition. Principal Dharminder Singh Ubha appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and also shared his own experience regarding the enjoyment of various aspects of poetry. He said in future, they would showcase the talent of skilful students in diverse forms on Youtube through the studio established at the Department of Music. Paramjeet Kaur, Head, PG Department of Punjabi, said such programmes not only bring out the latent potential of the students but also imbue in them the interest in poetry. Dr Davinder Singh, convener, Punjabi Literary Society, congratulated the participants of the competition. Jaspreet Kaur bagged first position, Navjot Kaur got second, Japnivaz and Randhir Singh secured third position while Manjot Kaur got consolatioin prize. Khalsa College also organised a guest lecture for the students of BVoc (Automobile) Part I and II and Advanced Diploma in Auto Electrical and Electronics Part I and II running under Dean Dyal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra (UGC).  

Awareness seminar held

A seminar to celebrate Teacher's Day was organised here at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) for Girls in association with Rotary Club, Patiala. Gurmeet Kaur, deputy director of the Department of Employment Generation and Training, was the chief guest on the occasion. Speakers highlighted the importance of teachers for the foundation of healthy society. They also presented their views on the duties and responsibilities of the teachers towards society. Principal Maninder Kaur also made the students aware of the importance of Teacher's Day.

Sports activities organised

A sports activity was organised for students of Ryan International School, Patiala, wherein students of Class I participated in sprints and students of Class II did spoon and lemon race and T-shirt race. The objective of the activity was to develop in students a sporting spirit, a venue to display their physical prowess and gain hands on experience of sports activities in future. 

Students bring laurels

Students of Radcliffe School, Patiala, brought laurels in sports. Tegveer Noor and Mohit clinched the gold and silver medals at the district level and selected for state-level games. Tegveer grabbed the gold medal in under-17 category of weight-lifting, while Mohit bagged silver medal along with five other medals in under-14 category of gymnastics.
