Passengers hoping to fly to the Pink City over the month will have to make alternative travel plans as the only flight to Jaipur from the city has been grounded.
The Chandigarh-Jaipur Jet Airways flight (9W 2163) has been suspended till March 24 due to the construction of a parallel taxi track on the runway at the Jaipur international airport. The flight was earlier included in the schedule released by airport officials last week.
In a late announcement, Chandigarh International Airport Limited PRO said the flight had been grounded till March 24.
IndiGo’s flight to Bengaluru has been preponed and will depart from Chandigarh at 10.40 am on all days, except Tuesday. On Tuesday, the flight will take off at 8.15 am.
No hand baggage stamping at airport
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has decided to dispense with the present system of stamping of hand baggage tags at the Chandigarh international airport. Airport officials said no hand baggage stamping would be required for boarding after the security check. The system came into force on Thursday afternoon after a trial run.
