Jaskirat, Simran sprint to gold

Chandigarh, September 5

Jaskirat Bhatti clocked 12.72s to win the 100m gold in the boys’ U-14 category on the opening day of the State Athletics Championship at the Sector 7 Sports Complex here today.

Amandeep Singh (12.88s) clinched the silver medal, while Shivam (13.21s) ended with the bronze. 

In the girl’s sub-junior category, Simran Kaur bagged the 100m gold with timing of 13.43s. She was followed by Vedika (14.51s) in second place. Damini clocked 14.59s to finish third.

In the boy’s shot put, Gurjant Singh claimed the top with a throw of 11.50m. Kapil (8.99m) ended in second place, while Sukhman Singh (7.15m) bagged the third spot. 

Amardev Sharma dominated the high jump event with a leap of 1.30m. He was followed by Mehtaab (1.25m) and Prithvi Yadav (1.20m) in second and third place respectively.

In the boy’s U-16 category, Akash Singh clocked 11.69s to clinch gold medal. Ayush Raikhy (11.70s) won the silver, followed by Sunny who registered timing of 11.71s to grab the bronze medal. 

Abhishek Rana, meanwhile, claimed the pole position in the 400m event with timing of 54.62s. Ravineet Singh (59.20s) finished second. Lovepreet Singh with 59.46s claimed third spot. 

In the boy’s U-20 category, Arjun sprinted 100m in 11.39s to claim the gold medal. Navroi Singh (11.42s) followed in second place, while Aman Sharma (11.48s) had to content with the third position. 

The girl’s 100m title went Navleen Kaur after she clocked 13.72s to beat Amanjot Kaur (14.02s). Shivani clocked 15.01s to finish third.

Rahul Saini covered 13.40m to win the triple jump gold. Harpreet Singh claimed the silver with a leap of 12.50m, while Amoldeep Singh Sidhu swept 12.10m to bag the bronze medal.                 

Divyanshi finished on the top of the podium in the girls’ U-18 100m dash. She clocked 12.88s to beat Sanskriti (12.90s) for the gold. Navya won the bronze medal with 13.01s. 

The girls’ 400m gold went to Vanishka after she recorded timing 1:26.41s. Kamaljeet Kaur (1:29.49s) got the silver, while Khusneet Kaur (1:58.27s) claimed the bronze medal. 

Gurveer Kaur won the girls’ U-18 triple jump gold with a leap of 10.05m. Shifali (7.10m) and Shania (6.37m) finished in second and third places respectively. 

In the shot put, Shamita Yadav made a throw of 7.50m to clinch gold. Chitman (7.45m) won the silver, followed by Anmoldeep Kaur (6.60m) with a bronze. 

Deepanshu dominated the 3,000m run with timing of 16:01.31s. Sachi (19:10.12s) finished second. 

Sara Bhattal won the 100m gold in the girl’s U-16 category with 13.37s. Komal Preet Kaur (13.90s) finished second. Tanvir Kaur clocked (14.86s) to claim the third spot. 

Neha, meanwhile, beat Shifali to claim the 400m gold in the girls’ U-16 category. Neha clocked 1:16.87s, while Shifali recorded 1:20.31s. Ruchika (1:21.77s) bagged the bronze meal.
