Soulful rendition of violin and a sparkling performance of Odissi marked the final day of the 48th edition of the five-day All-India Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan, organised by the Pracheen Kala Kendra, at the Tagore Theatre here today.

A rare performance of drummer Ranjit Barot and violinist Deepak Pandit was a treat to watch. With Heera Pandit on tabla, Deepak left the audience mesmerised. He presented Raga Charukeshi through an alap, jod alap and Jod jhalla.

Ranjeet’s solo performance on drums thrilled the audience. The duo concluded their recital with a captivating Ragamala amid standing ovation.

Hailed as an epitome of perfection, Odissi dance guru Meera Das took the centre stage with her six accomplished danseuses.

Opening with “Mangalacharan”, which was followed by “Nrutta”, Meera and her troupe presented an abhinaya piece, Jaya Bhagwati Devi, before a “Pallavi”, which implies elaboration and exposition of both dance and music.
