Eminent Jaipur Gharana kathak guru Shobha Koser and her foremost disciple Dr Samira Koser performed during the inaugural performance of three-day Kathak festival themed on Guru-Shishya tradition organised by the North Zone Culture Centre (NZCC), Patiala, in association with the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy at Navrang Theatre, here today.
Guru Shobha Koser opened up the programme with an invocatory Durga Stuti while Dr Samira Koser executed Shudh Kathak Nritya syllables, which were later presented by Shobha Koser. Both were at their best in an emotional presentation titled "Kalindi" - the story of Lord Krishna and Yamuna's unique and untold friendship bond.
The programme concluded with a crisp Thumri by Guru Shobha amidst applause. Chief guest Nalini Singhal, regional director, ICCR; Prof Saubhagya Vardhan, director, NZCC; and Kamal Arora, chairman, CSNA; honoured the artistes.
