Kharar woman loses Rs 41,500 to ATM fraud

The number of cyber crime cases are increasing day by day. Now, cyber criminals have targeted Navpreet Kaur, a resident of Sawraj Nagar, Kharar. The accused managed to withdraw Rs 41,500 from Navpreet’s bank account through an ATM located in Ajmer, Rajasthan.

The complainant told the State Cyber Crime Cell in Mohali that she had an account in IDBI Bank at Kharar. On December 17, she got a message about withdrawal of Rs 41,500 from her bank account, following which she blocked her ATM through customer care of the bank.

From the bank inquiry, she came to know that the transaction took place in Ajmer. She said she was in Kharar and her ATM card was also with her on the day cyber criminals withdrew the cash from the ATM. The fraudster left Rs 390 only in her bank account. — OC
