Knee replacement should be last resort: Prof Dhillon
CHANDIGARH: “Knee replacement should be the last resort,” said Prof Mandeep S Dhillon, orthopaedic surgeon at the PGI. The Department of Orthopaedics, PGI, Chandigarh, is organising the Annual Conference of the Indian Biological Orthopaedics Society from Friday. “Orthobiologics, especially PRP, came to limelight after famous sportspersons used this for treatment of their injuries,” said Prof Dhillon. Dr William Murrel from Dubai, Dr Anan Shetty from the UK and Dr Tunku Zaman from Malaysia are coming for the annual conference. Over 250 delegates from across the country are expected to attend this event. The conference aims to cover all areas of orthobiologics usage ranging from bone healing, sports injuries, cartilage injuries, hip disorders, foot and ankle disorders and osteoarthritis.
“Resuscitation in trauma & perioperative care”
Chandigarh: With one trauma related death occurring every three minutes in India, trauma is the leading but often neglected cause of mortality as well as disability in our country. With the aim to sensitise the medical community on trauma resuscitation and injury prevention, the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care in association with the Chandigarh chapter of ISA organised a CME-cum-training workshop on “Resuscitation in Trauma & Perioperative Care” on Thursday at the Nehru Hospital, PGI. This meeting involved trauma doctors from various disciplines. The CME was inaugurated by Prof Jagat Ram, director, PGI, and attended by around 200 delegates from Chandigarh and neighbouring states. — TNS
