Residents of Sector 86 are up in arms over lack of basic facilities in the area.
The residents claimed that the area was bereft of basic facilities, including proper roads, clean drinking water and street lights.
Talking to Chandigarh Tribune, Prem Singh, a resident of the area, said due to lack of basic facilities in the area, it seemed that they were living in some remote backward area.
“Most of the internal roads in our area are potholed and broken. Adding insult to the injury, there is no functional street lights in our area, which makes residents vulnerable to accidents, anti-social elements and other such dangers,” alleged Prem.
He added that a number of street light poles had uprooted by a storm in the previous year.
“All such poles are still lying on the ground and nobody bothers to install them again,” he said.
Another resident Surinder Singh said the area residents were getting dirty and muddy water for the past several months.
He alleged that the underground drinking water pipeline had broken at one point around two years ago and that was yet to be repaired despite making repeated complaints.
The residents alleged that there were several pits in the area. Water accumulation can be seen in some of the pits.
“Due to such trenches and wild growth all around, the area is full of mosquitoes too. There is no fogging or other such measures being taken by the authorities to stop the hazard,” alleged Surinder.
