A leopard was found dead in the Bir Shikargah Wildlife Sanctuary in Pinjore on Monday morning. The leopard died of bullet injury.

On the complaint of Forest Department officials, an FIR has been registered at the Pinjore police station against unknown persons under Section 9 of the Wildlife Protection Act.

As per the complaint submitted by Jaiveer, Inspector, Wildlife Department, Pinjore, it was stated that during an inspection of Bir Shikargah Wildlife Sanctuary in Pinjore on Monday morning, the body of a leopard was spotted by forest guard Dharminder. The body was spotted with a bullet injury around 9 am close to Kharkua village. Forest guard Dharminder then called senior officials and informed them about the body.

The forest officials informed the police that the leopard was female and her age was around 2 years. The bullet had pierced the chest and the body of leopard.

Sukhbir Singh, SHO, Pinjore, said they had lodged the FIR and started investigation.
