The police have cracked the gruesome murder case of a disc jockey (DJ) and the owner of an entertainment orchestra group, who was stabbed over 50 times and found in a pool of blood at his house here last week. The victim’s brother-in-law has been arrested for the crime, which was fall out of a love triangle.
The body of 32-year-old Nahid Khan was recovered from his house at Baba Deep Singh Nagar on Wednesday. The police had also recovered many used condoms from the spot, which suggested the entry of many women at the place before the alleged murder took place.
The deceased’s brother-in-law Deepak Kumar, who worked as a Home Guard in Haryana, has been arrested in the case.
Police investigations into the murder showed that Deepak decided to commit the murder on learning that his brother-in-law was luring the same girl whom he (Deepak) wanted to marry. Interestingly, Joti, the sister of the accused, had allegedly married Nahid against her family’s wishes. It was an inter-caste marriage.
Joti was a dancer and worked with the Nahid’s troupe and had met him during functions. Later, they decided to marry. However, her relationship with Nahid had recently turned sour and she was currently working in Bengaluru. Ever since, Nahid Khan continued to be involved in many extra-marital relations.
The police said last week, Deepak, who had recently started preparing for his bank services exam in Chandigarh, came to know that the girl whom he was having an affair with also knew Nahid. Deepak called up Nahid and told him that he wanted to marry the girl. “Nahid told Deepak that the girl was immoral. However, he himself started flirting with her and instead stopped talking to Deepak,” said the police.
Perturbed over the development, Deepak decided to kill Nahid. “On the day of the murder, Deepak drove to Nahid’s house and waited in his car till he arrived. As he entered his house, Deepak too sneaked in. He confronted the victim and stabbed him multiple times,” said Patiala SP (Investigations) Harwinder Virk. The knife has been recovered by cops.
“Nahid’s call details showed that he was in touch with many women and his house was also visited by many of them. However, we zeroed in on Deepak as the crime spot had some scuffle marks. Deepak was also hurt in the scuffle. He stabbed the DJ over 50 times till he was sure that he had dead,” Virk added.
“The body had multiple injury marks and the throat was slit. There was not a single muscle in his body that was not ruptured by stabbing and it seemed that the accused continued to stab the victim even after he had died,” said policemen who saw his body.
After the murder, Deepak allegedly took away a gold chain and mobile from the victim’s house and threw these into a canal.
