Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award for MCM faculty

Chandigarh, July 17

Mehr Chand Mahajan (MCM) DAV College for Women, Sector 36-A, has bagged the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award.

Jasvir Kaur, Yoga and Gym Instructor at the college, also won an award at a state-level function held recently to felicitate outstanding sportspersons.

The award, which was conferred on 93 sportspersons from Punjab by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, included Rs 2 lakh and a trophy.

A total of 81 players, who had excelled in sports from 2011-2018 were selected for the award, besides, 12 veteran players, who had already been felicitated by the Union Government.

Jasvir has participated in various international and senior national weightlifting championships.

She has bagged silver and a bronze medal at the international level and won the title of senior national champion three times at the national level.

Principal Nisha Bhargava congratulated Jasvir Kaur for her accomplishment. She said: “Based on the philosophy that individuals and institutions grow together, the college offers unprecedented opportunities of growth and exposure to both its students and staff.”
