Chandigarh, March 4
The 14th Maharaja Ranjit Singh Junior Gold Cup Hockey Tournament will be held from March 19 to 21 at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU).
Teams from Surjit Hockey Academy (Jalandhar), Baba Uttam Singh national Hockey Academy (Khadoor Sahib), SGPC Hockey Academy (Amritsar), Government Senior Secondary Achool (Chehratta), Malwa Hockey Academy (Ludhiana), Mehta Academy, Khalsa College (Amritsar), PSEB Hockey Academy (Amritsar) and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Academy will participate in the-three day tournament.
Olympian Balwinder Singh Shammi informed that the winning team will get Shivinder Singh Sandhu and Manveen Sandhu Memorial Cup and Rs 51,000 in cash award. The runners-up will get a cash award of Rs 31,000.
In the women’s tournament, Khalsa College University, BBKDAV College Amritsar, Chandigarh XI, Tarantaran Academy, Jalandhar XI, Amritsar XI and Marion XI will contest for honours. The best player from every match will also be awarded during the tournament.
