Mahatma Gandhi will always be remembered, says Vij

PANCHKULA:Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij unfurled the National Flag at the Parade Ground in Sector 5 here on Thursday to mark the 73rd Independence Day.

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij unfurled the National Flag at the Parade Ground in Sector 5 here on Thursday to mark the 73rd Independence Day. 

Viij also flagged off 15 basic life saving ambulances purchased by the Health Department for various districts in the state. Vij honoured the families of seven freedom fighters of the district and 11 Army officers and soldiers.

While congratulating the people on Independence Day  Vij said the country would always remember Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Ramprasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ulla Khan, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad and thousands of unknown martyrs ,who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. 

Earlier, Vij placed a wreath at the martyrs memorial in Sector 12. He also announced Rs 5 lakh for sweets for children, who participated in the Independence Day celebrations and declared Friday as holiday.

In all, 13 contingents, including Indo-Tibetan Bodar Police, Haryana Police, Haryana Women Police and Home Guard Troopers presented a spectacular march past. 

In the senior category, the NCC Senior Division contingent of Government Mahavidyalaya, Sector 1, got first position, Government Women’s College, Sector 14 second and Haryana Police third position. Similarly, in the  junior category march past, NCC Junior Boys Group was ranked first, NCC Junior Girls Girls second and BN Senior Secondary School, Sector 12, bagged third position.

National patriotic action song of students of Sky School, Sector 21, bagged the first prize, Haryanvi dance of students of Sarthak School, Sector 12, got second and the third prize was claimed by students of St Soldier School, Sector 16, for Rajasthani folk dance.
