In this case, Vijay Kumar, father of the victim, had filed a case against Somnath on October 5, 2014. Vijay, in his complaint, had stated that he lived in a rented accommodation at Mani Majra and was working as a labourer.

Construction work was going on at the house of his landlord Somnath. For this purpose, he had got a water tank built in the house. As per the complainant, keeping in view his two small children, he had told the accused to have the tank covered, but he did not pay heed.
