Man found dead, kin call it murder

Fatehgarh Sahib, January 4

A 24-year-old man Surjeet Singh, a resident of Pola village, died under mysterious circumstances today.

His family members have alleged that he was killed by a friend who gave him some poisonous substance.

The police said that prima facie, it appears to be an overdose of intoxicants.

Jodh Singh, the deceased’s brother, told mediapersons that his brother came home from work at 7 pm. At 9 pm, he left the house saying that he was going to his friend Sunny’s house. He said that when he did not return, they started searching for him. Jodh said that early in the morning, they got information that Surjeet’s body was lying at Sunny’s residence. When they reached the place, they saw bloodstains on his face.

Baldev Singh, Investigating Officer, said the police have taken Sunny into custody for investigation. —OC
