Manav Mangal, Sacred Heart girls win basketball opener

Chandigarh, July 31 

Manav Mangal School, Mohali, beat Strawberry Fields School, Sector 26, 26-8 in the opening match of the girls’ U-14 category at Bhagwant Singh Memorial Inter-school Basketball Tournament here today.

Playing at the Sector 42 Sports Complex, Bilaval scored 12 points to ensure Manav Mangal girls’ victory over their opponents. 

Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, defeated Delhi Public School, Sector 40, 17-2 to start their campaign on a positive note. Paridhi scored seven points for the team, while Barkaj contributed two points to the victory.

In another match, Vivek High School, Mohali, registered a 10-9 victory over St. Anne’s School, Sector 32. 

St. Soldier Divine School, Panchkula, defeated Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, 20- 5, with Priya and Kanishka scoring eight points each in the victory. 

Learning Paths School, Mohali, tamed Saupin’s School, Sector 32, 10-2.

In the boys’ U-14 category, Vivek High School, Mohali, with the help of Anshdeep Singh beat St. Peter’s School, Sector 37, 19 - 2. Anshdeep scored 10 points for the team. 

Arnav, meanwhile, helped Vivek High School, Sector 38, script a 32-17 win over St. Kabir Public School, Sector 26. 

Arnav scored 13 points, while Arshneal and Arshdeep added four points each to the tally. 

Learning Paths School overcame Smart Wonder School, Mohali, 6-5 while Saupin’s School, Sector 32, defeated Mount Carmel School, Sector 47, 10-6. 

Delhi Public School won their match against Sri Harkrishan School, Sector 38. Ashpreet scored six points as DPS boys won 13-6.
